I just installed Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10), very impressed by it. Even the fancy effects are working on my laptop. Which is a Acer Travelmate 6000.
Just one thing is really frustrating, I have 5 workspaces and in Ubuntu Feisty I used shortcuts to switch. In Gutsy I can't set the shortcut for workspace 3, 4, ...
But I found a workaround. After installing " Advanced Desktop Effects" I could set the shortcuts there.
So first of all install "compizconfig-settings-manager" (use the code below).
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Open the configurator by clicking "System - Preferences - Advanced Desktop Effects Settings".
Click "Viewport Switcher" and open the "Actions"-tab.
Set your shortcuts in the "Go to specific viewport"-section.

Thanks for the tip! Alternatively simply enable (tick checkbox) the config settings manager "Desktop Plane" feature. It should have the default keyboard shortcuts for switching workspaces.
